Still Time to Apply for Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Deadline extended! There’s still time to apply for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF). The program will award fellowships of $4,500 to support hands-on research in community resilience, safety, and infrastructure renewal. Spring 2017 HWeekend - Impact Oregon!
HWeekend returns April 22-23! This free hardware development competition, sponsored by the College of Engineering, College of Business, and InnovationX, brings students of all levels and majors together with industry and faculty mentors to create something new. Students work together in teams to create a marketable project they can demonstrate and pitch to judges at the end of the weekend. The theme for this event is Impact Oregon! Come together with a group of friends to make something that is uniquely Oregon or could help Oregon citizens. More info: Web page, video. Application deadline: April 5.
MECOP Program Applications Open Now
Applications for two, six-month internships, 2018 (SP/SU) and 2019 (SU/F), can be submitted anytime in March. Selection interviews will be held in May for qualified applicants. Notifications of acceptance will be sent starting in July (for summer pro-school admission) through September (for fall pro-school admission). Reminder: AIChE Regional Conference Abstract Deadline is March 24
The CBEE student chapter willl host the AIChE Pacific Northwest Student Regional Conference, Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22, here at OSU. Conference activities will include: AIChE Humanitarian Global Engagement Session with Engineers Without Borders, ChemE Jeopardy, research paper presentations, research poster presentations, ChemE car competitions, awards banquet with keynote speaker, and networking with industry professionals from the region. Oregon State Open Source Lab invites the OSU Engineering community to participate in Beaver Barcamp. The event is an "unconference," which means the discussion and session topics (usually computer science and technology heavy) are decided the day of the event by attendees who wish to inform others of something they are passionate about.

Info Session with P&G Technology Section Head

The CBEE Club will host an info session on April 20 from 5-6 p.m. with John McKibben, technology section head for Proctor and Gamble in the company's baby-care manufacturing sector. McKibben received the Oregon Stater Council of Outstanding Early Career Engineers Award in 2004. He will be talking with students about his journey to becoming the technology section head and what it is like to work for P&G.

BMES and CBEE club will have a joint team for Relay for Life this year! The relay is a chance to make an impact in cancer research and care and stand in solidarity with cancer patients, survivors, and those that we have lost. Engineers Without Borders will hold general meetings on Thursdays, from 6-6:50 p.m. in KEAR 212. Cambodia program meets Tuesdays from 5-6:50 p.m. in BAT 250. Nicaragua program meets Wednesdays from 6-7:50 p.m. in BAT 150. Domestic programs meet Thursday 5-5:50 in KEAR 305.
Materials Research Society student chapter meetings are Wednesdays at 5 p.m. Locations vary; see chapter site for more information. The Materials Research Society student chapter introduces students to the discipline of materials science and fosters connections between students, faculty, and industry. The chapter also hosts lab and industry tours, science demonstrations, seminars, and more.
