Bioremediation/Bioprocess Lab

The Bioremediation/Bioprocess Lab is equipped to study microbial processes related to the biotransformation of contaminants in the environment. Equipment includes an Coy anaerobic glove box (for working with anaerobic cultures), a laminar flow hood for working with pure cultures, and three constant temperatures room for the incubation of cultures at desired temperatures. The analytical lab associated with this laboratory permits detailed microbial kinetic studies to be performed, as well as the identification of transformation products of microbial processes. The laboratory is also equipped with a Packard Liquid Scintillation Counter that permits studies with carbon 14 and tritium labeled compounds. Laboratory equipment is also available for conducting continuous flow column studies as well as field investigations of in-situ bioremediation processes.
