The Environmental Engineering
Graduate Program
In 2007, Oregon State's College of Engineering
established the School of Chemical, Biological and Environmental
Engineering with the goal of unifying the previously separate
disciplines into a cutting-edge engineering program. Graduate degrees
(MS, MEng, PhD) in Environmental Engineering are in the process of obtaining approval. Until approved, environmental
engineering graduate students will receive degrees in Chemical
Engineering.
Graduate studies in
Environmental Engineering at Oregon State University emphasize the
understanding of fundamental scientific and engineering principles to
manage and solve environmental problems in natural and engineering
systems. The instructional program is designed to develop strong
analytical, design, and management capabilities in the application of
biological, chemical and physical processes. Students are prepared for
careers in consulting and design, environmental monitoring and
management, or teaching and research. Research focuses on hazardous
substances, environmental microbiology, fundamentals of transport
processes in the environment, environmental chemistry, and groundwater
and surface water resources.
Students with interests in
environmental or water resources engineering may elect degrees in the
following areas:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical
Engineering
M.S. or Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering (see the Water Resources
Graduate Program for more information)
Faculty and
Research Activity
Faculty members have a broad
range of professional interests, providing a diverse program of
research and classroom opportunities. Some of our present research
interests are described in faculty
Web pages. You can also download
and view a slide show (in PDF format) that describes
environmental processes research in the OSU College of Engineering.
