Paid Mentors for CHE 102

CHE 102 REALLY needs YOU as a paid mentor!!

We have several folks who have expressed an interest in being lab mentors for the CHE 102 class for winter 2007, but we need a few more.

We need 2 mentors for each class, more important that they can make the second lab of the week when working with ROBOLAB, but really need them in first lab working with MATLAB as well.

We need folks who have taken the course and are somewhat familiar with MATLAB and the LEGO-based robotic project.

Mentors work with one of the sections for two 2-hour labs each week, from week 1 to 10.

The three lab sessions times are:

Section "O" = Tue/Thur 1-3pm

Section "S" = Tue/Thur 3-5 pm

Section "U" = Wed/Fri  1-3pm

The pay for either type of position is $9/hour and is paid on an hourly card set up through Lea Clayton in the CHE office.

If you are interested in helping out with CHE 102, please stop by the main office (Gleeson 103 and see Karen) or email Dr. Levien.  He is out of the country this week but will be checking his email.

Summer Undergraduate Research Program in Biotechnology and Bioengineering

The Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences offers an opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research in the areas of bioengineering, bioinformatics, and applied molecular and cellular biology, and to gain exposure to related ethics and business topics. Funding for 10 positions within this REU program is provided through the Engineering Directorate of the National Science Foundation (NSF). We expect to offer 5-10 additional positions through other funding source. Keck Graduate Institute is the newest member of the Claremont Colleges, located 30 miles east of Los Angeles. Although we are a graduate institution, undergraduate students play an important role in our research efforts. Women and members of underrepresented minorities are especially encouraged to apply.

- Ten week program: June 11 - August 17, 2007

- For NSF-funded REU positions: $3,975 stipend, housing, and travel allowance

- Application deadline: March 2, 2007

- For more information, see: http://www.kgi.edu/x1748.xml
