Puzzle For This week!

Perhaps a way to get past tense?

One of five, does that make sense?

No emotion and yet lots of feeling,

Whether you’re healing or stealing or dealing.

What am I?

New Child Care Opportunity!

My name is Kristi King and I am the Site Director of Our Little Village Drop-off Care for Children in the Valley Library.  This is a free service for OSU student parents.  They drop off their child(ren) with us and we take care of them for 2-3 hours per day while the student parent gets to study in the library.

This is an amazing service for student parents to have and use.  Having an extra 2-3 hours a day, a few days a week, of uninterrupted study time could really help a lot of student parents be more successful in their course work.

The MECOP/CECOP Placement Event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.  Attendance is required at the event for all MECOP and CECOP students.  May we ask that you consider this schedule as you formulate your class syllabi for winter term?  Your flexibility will be appreciated if students' interview times conflict with class time.

We anticipate that as many as 600 company reps from the Pacific Northwest's engineering community will attend the Placement Event at OSU.  They will conduct  individual interviews to ensure that each of the nearly 400 MECOP/CECOP students is placed in an appropriate internship, matching industry projects with students' skills and career goals.  This careful placement of interns, coupled with excellent classroom teaching, can produce the most highly trained and educated engineers in the nation.  And since about 90% of MECOP/CECOP graduates find jobs in Oregon after graduation, we are strengthening Oregon's economy along with its professional skill base.

Thank you for continuing to partner with students and industry members to help make MECOP/CECOP the best internship program of its kind.  If you have questions about the Placement Event or about the Program in general, please feel free to contact either our Program Director, Gary Petersen, or me.

Many thanks from the MECOP office, and all the best this holiday season.

Greetings!
Last year you and many of your colleagues donated suits and interview appropriate attire for the Career Makeover Wardrobe event. This event allowed hundreds of students to purchase clothing at an incredible price - for instance $15.00 for a suit already dry cleaned!

The event is happening again this year and we are soliciting your donations again! We hope you will clean your closet over the holidays and consider donating your gently used items to support this important event for Oregon State University Students!

Donations are tax deductible and accepted at these locations:
OSU Bookstore Beaver Fan Shop
121 SW Morrison #120
Portland, Oregon

OSU Career Services
8 Kerr Administration
Corvallis, Oregon
Donated business apparel will be used to help OSU Students in the 3rd Annual Career Makeover sponsored by MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences), OSU Career Services, and Campbell's Cleaners. Questions and employer site pickup arrangements can be directed to Wanda Crannell at (541) 737-2999 or additional information can be found at http://agsci.oregonstate.edu/manrrs/
