CHE/BIOE/ENVE students:
CHE/BIOE/ENVE students: Scholarship applications are due on Feb. 1, 2008. To receive a scholarship from the School of CBEE, you must fill out a College of Engineering (COE) on-line scholarship application: http://engr.oregonstate.edu/students/apps/
Please print a copy of your on-line scholarship application before submitting, and give this copy to Karen Kelly in the CBEE office, 103 Gleeson. Having paper copies in our office facilitates the evaluation process.
Criteria for CBEE Scholarships:
Academics (greater weighting for higher GPA)
Departmental Activities (e.g., AIChE Or BioE Student Chapter, ECOST, NASA, etc.)
Extracurricular Activities (especially community based, such as dorm or house counselor, ASOSU, club or varsity sports, leadership positions, etc... IM sports are not counted)
Additional Circumstances you think are important for consideration.

The MECOP/CECOP Placement
Event is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Attendance is required at the event for all MECOP and CECOP students. May
we ask that you consider this schedule as you formulate your class syllabi for
winter term? Your flexibility will be appreciated if students' interview
times conflict with class time.
We anticipate
that as many as 600 company reps from the Pacific Northwest's
engineering community will attend the Placement Event at OSU. They will
conduct individual interviews to ensure that
each of the nearly 400 MECOP/CECOP students is placed in an appropriate
internship, matching industry projects with students' skills and career
goals. This careful placement of interns, coupled with excellent
classroom teaching, can produce the most highly trained and educated engineers
in the nation. And since about 90% of MECOP/CECOP graduates find jobs in Oregon after graduation, we are strengthening Oregon's economy along
with its professional skill base.
Thank you for
continuing to partner with students and industry members to help make
MECOP/CECOP the best internship program of its kind. If you have
questions about the Placement Event or about the Program in general, please
feel free to contact either our Program Director, Gary
Petersen, or me.
Many thanks from
the MECOP office, and all the best this holiday season.
----
Only 1 in 10 students from low-income communities will graduate
from college-- and you have the power to change this.

My name is Erin Cole and I am coordinating SOLV’s Women in Science Day 2008. I would like to invite you to participate in this year’s event, which will take place on Saturday, March 15th, from 9 am to 1:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to educate young women in our community about opportunities in the environmental science field.
During the event, young women aged 14-18 from our community will team up with women working in the environmental science field to plant native trees as part of a river restoration project along the Clackamas River in Gladstone. Following the tree planting, lunch will be provided at a nearby location and the girls will have the opportunity to talk with you about your career.
Please let me know if you are interested in participating and I will send you additional information. Also, please feel free to forward this email to any other women working in science fields who you think may be interested. I look forward to hearing from you!
