NEWS

-----------------------------------------------------

Tuesday, October 16th is the last day you can register to vote in order to participate in the November 6th election.  Statewide, voters will consider two legislatively referred ballot measures.  In a number of localities, including Benton County, voters will face local money measures.

It is not legal for anyone, including the post office, to forward your ballot.  Therefore, if you have moved you will need to re-register to ensure your ballot will reach you.  Voter registration cards are available from the Associated Students of OSU in Snell Hall, at the Memorial Union, and other campus locations.  They can also be found on the Benton County Elections website listed below.

Students may register to vote in Benton County or back home.  If you chose to register to vote at home, you will need to also apply for an Absentee Ballot including your Benton County address so the ballots can be sent to you.

Please take the time to register to vote – and once registered, please participate in the election.  If you have questions or need information about voter registration, contact the Benton County Elections Department: (541) 766-6756, http://www.co.benton.or.us/admin/elections/.

If you are not in Benton County, this link will connect you to elections offices in all 36 Oregon Counties: http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/other.info/clerk.htm.

We have a new site up which will enable students to volunteer for COE events. Besides helping the College, volunteering is an excellent way for students to get connected to the College, to meet people throughout the College, to develop leadership skills, and to have fun. Our students are coming from high schools that often have community service requirements, so they are looking for ways to continue service.

http://engr.oregonstate.edu/wme/volunteer/volviewevent.php

Involving as many students as possible in COE events will assist all student in feeling like important members of the COE community.

To add events, please email:

Name of event

Description

Date/Time

Location

Max. number of people needed

It would be great to include a link to the site on every departmental e-newsletter so that students can easily access volunteer opportunities.

Please share this information with anyone in your department who plans events in which COE students can participate. We would love to have lots of opportunities, and lots of variety for students

If you have any questions, contact Ellen, Brett, Denise, or the COE Ambassadors http://engr.oregonstate.edu/students/ambassadors/
