Biological and Environmental Systems Research Cluster

The Biological and Environmental Systems (BES) research cluster is one of six research clusters in the College of Engineering at Oregon State University.  Selected activities of each cluster are highlighted in the 2003 College of Engineering Annual Report.

The BES research cluster is headed Ken Williamson, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The goal of BES cluster is to advance research that exploits biological processes or biological materials for engineering applications.  The BES research cluster has three Focus Areas, as detailed below.
