Teacher Application

Program Objectives:
The goals of this portion of the SESEY Program are to help high school teachers develop an understanding of the engineering profession, and to integrate this new knowledge into their respective high school curriculums. Teachers selected for participation in the program must commit to implementing an engineering educational module, developed during the program, into their current teaching materials. Specific program goals include:

  • Link OSU faculty and secondary education instructors throughout the state of Oregon
  • Express a holistic view of the engineering profession, including the distinctions among the variety of engineering sub-disciplines
  • Develop a high-school level, science and engineering module to be implemented during the 1997-98 academic year
  • Continue interaction with OSU faculty, expanding upon discussions initiated during the program

Application:
Teachers interested in participating in this program should first contact Dr. Skip Rochefort. Application materials will include a current curriculum vita and a response to the following questions:

  1. Why are you interested in participating in this program?
  2. How will you implement the science and engineering educational module you develop?
  3. What grade-levels will be impacted by your newly developed educational module?
