New Mexico State University hosts the annual Waste-management, Education and Research Consortium (WERC) student engineering design competition.  Oregon State University has participated over the past 17 years, sending students from multiple disciplines and winning several awards over that time period.  The event is competitive and provides tremendous growth opportunities for students, but it also fun and a great way to gain outside experience.  In 2008, a team from OSU finished first in one of the categories, bringing home a $2500 prize and national exposure.  Student participation in this contest is independent, but supported by the School of CBEE both financially and with faculty mentors.  Read about this competition and join us!
