Undergraduate Research Opportunities for CBEE Students

Deadlines have passed for REUs for summer 2009. Information for 2010 will be start to be available in October.

There are some general links with information about REUs below.

Participating in an undergraduate research program is highly recommended if you are thinking about going to graduate school . This valuable experience will give you an edge in applying for graduate school, research fellowships, and job applications. Almost all REU internships are paid and many offer travel and housing assistance.

Please be aware of the starting date for REU's. Some are designed for students at semester schools and start earlier than you will be able to participate if you are planning to complete your spring term classes. Please check out the starting dates and possible late start dates before applying for the REU. I (Tracy Rothwell) would be glad to contact any programs you are interested in to discuss possible start dates if you would like me to - just e-mail me.

National Science Foundation Science & Technology Centers - Summer Internship Program

The National Science Foundation Science & Technology Centers (STCs) offer summer internships at each of the 17 centers, located at prestigious universities around the United States. Each center has a specific research focus, but as a whole, the programs focus on such fields as the biological sciences, computer and information sciences, engineering, geosciences, and mathematical and physical sciences. These summer internships provide undergraduates an opportunity to conduct research in a "graduate school" setting. Some of these opportunities may already be listed here, but the complete list of centers and opportunities can be found at this site: http://www.nsfstc.org/ .

This list of internships and REUs is from the BME Career Alliance. It contains both REUs and industry positions nationwide that are primarily of interest to students interested in bioengineering and biomedical engineering. I have not checked the REUs on this list to make sure that the star dates are compatible with OSUs calendar.

National Laboratories and Institutes
