Paid research opportunities: The goal of URSA Engage is to provide first- and second-year students, and transfer students in their first year at OSU, opportunities to pursue research or a creative activity under the guidance of an OSU mentor. Students who are selected will receive an award of $750, and their faculty mentors will receive $250 in development funds. The program is available to undergraduates across all academic disciplines. Projects will take place from the middle of winter term 2018 through the end of spring term 2018 (15 weeks at five hours per week). For more information or to apply:

This year’s event features a keynote luncheon with Jorge Cham, creator of PHD Comics; a career panel; and a poster session with prizes awarded to the top three presenters from each school. Guatemala Info Session: Students from any major are invited to travel to Guatemala for 10 days in September 2018 to learn about the household energy poverty facing 40 percent of the world’s families and the technologies and policies needed to help address it. Social Justice Retreats: Student Affairs is accepting applications through Dec. 1 for four weekend-long retreats to promote campus dialogues about race and racism: Racial Aikido Retreat, Jan. 19-21; Multiracial Aikido Retreat, Jan. 26-28; Examining White Identity in a Multicultural World, Jan. 19-21; International Student Social Justice Retreat, Feb. 2-4.
